Privacy policy
How we handle your information
First Love respects your privacy. This page explains what we collect when you shop with us or use our app, why, and how you can see or change it.
What we collect
When you place an order we collect your name, email, phone number, and delivery address, so we can fulfil and deliver it. If you create an account, we keep your order history so you can look back on it.
Payment
Card payments are processed directly by Square. Your card number is entered into Square's own secure payment form and never passes through our servers — we only ever see the outcome of a payment, never the card itself.
Communication
We'll email you order confirmations and delivery updates — these aren't optional, they're how you know your coffee is on its way. If you opt in at checkout, we may also send occasional offers and news, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in those emails.
Who we share it with
We share only what's needed to run the shop: your payment details with Square to process payment, and your name and address with our delivery partner to get your order to you. We don't sell your information to anyone.
Cookies
Our site uses cookies to keep your cart working between pages and to remember your preferences. We don't use cookies to track you across other websites.
The First Love app and your membership
If you use our app, or hold a First Love membership card, we keep an account for you. It holds your name, your email address and/or mobile number, and — if you give it to us — your birthday, so we can shout you a coffee. It also records the cafe you've chosen as your local, any orders you've saved as "my usual", and the coffees and bags you've bought, because that is what the loyalty stamps are counted from.
There is no password. You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email or mobile, which is why we need at least one of them. Your device stores a sign-in token and a random per-install identifier so you stay signed in and so you can recognise and sign out a phone you've lost. That identifier is ours alone: it is not an advertising identifier, and it is never shared.
We don't track you. The app contains no advertising, no third-party analytics, and nothing that follows you into other companies' apps or websites. We don't sell or trade your information, and we never share it with data brokers.
Coffee subscriptions and saved cards
If you start a coffee subscription, you save a card so we can charge each cycle without you having to be there. That card is stored by Square, not by us: you type it into Square's own secure form, and what reaches our server is a token Square gives us, plus the card's brand and last four digits so you can tell which card it is. We cannot see or retrieve your card number.
We'll tell you the price and the date of the next charge before you subscribe, and again on your account page. You can pause or cancel a subscription yourself at any time, from the app or from your account page on our website — you don't need to ask us. If a payment fails we'll email or text you, so you can fix it.
Notifications
If you allow them, we send notifications when your order is ready. News and specials are separate and off unless you turn them on. Both can be switched off in the app at any time, and your phone's own settings will always override ours.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, from the app or your account page. It removes your name, contact details, loyalty stamps, saved orders and any saved card, and signs out every device.
Two things survive, and it's fair you know why. Past orders stay in our sales records with your name removed — they are tax invoices, and we're required to keep them. And a physical membership card is released rather than destroyed, so the card itself can be handed to somebody else with a fresh, empty account.
Access & correction
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing louis@firstlovecoffee.com.au. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
